Set Up Your SAL Account
Welcome! Let's get your computer ready to use SAL's Google Workspace applications.
We recommend using Google Chrome and creating a separate Chrome Profile for each SAL account you use.
This is a one-time setup that will make accessing your SAL email, documents, and other applications much easier.
What Is a Chrome Profile?
Think of a Chrome Profile as a separate workspace within your web browser.
Each profile remembers its own Google accounts, bookmarks, browsing history, and settings.
With separate profiles, you can easily switch between accounts without repeatedly signing out and signing back in.
Important: A Chrome Profile is not another Google account. It's simply a convenient way to keep your activities organized.
You can use SAL's Google Workspace applications without Chrome, but we recommend this approach for anyone using a Windows or Mac computer.

Each Chrome Profile opens its own browser window.
You can have more than one profile open at the same time and switch between them whenever you need to.
Tip: Give each profile a different name and color so you can easily recognize which SAL account you're using.
Create Your Chrome Profile
Follow these steps to create a separate Chrome Profile for your SAL account.
Before you begin: Have your SAL email address and password available. If this is your first time signing in, use the temporary password provided by SAL.
If you don't already have Google Chrome installed, you can download it from google.com/chrome.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome
Open Chrome on your Windows or Mac computer.
In the upper-right corner of the browser, look for the Profile icon. This may show your picture, initials, or a generic person icon.
Click the Profile icon to open the profile menu.
Step 2: Create a New Chrome Profile
In the Profile menu, look for Add Chrome profile or Add new profile. You may need to select Manage Chrome profiles first.
Click Add to begin creating your new profile.
Chrome will open a new window and may ask you to sign in to a Google account.
Important: If Chrome offers to sign you in, use your SAL email address, not your personal Gmail address.
If this is your first time accessing your SAL account, Google may ask you to change your temporary password.
Follow the on-screen instructions to finish signing in.
Step 3: Name and Customize Your Chrome Profile
Chrome may automatically use your Google account's name and picture for your new profile. You can customize these to make the profile easier to identify.
Click the Profile icon in the upper-right corner of Chrome.
Select Customize profile (or Manage Chrome profiles, then edit the profile).
Give your profile a recognizable name, such as SAL Treasurer or SAL Webmaster.
Choose a color that makes this profile easy to distinguish from your other Chrome profiles.
Tip: If you have more than one SAL account, use a different name and color for each profile.
For example, you might use green for SAL Webmaster and purple for SAL Newsletter.
Your profile name and color are just for your convenience. They won't change your Google Workspace account or email address.
Step 4: Switch Between Chrome Profiles
Once you've created your Chrome Profiles, switching between them is easy.
Open Google Chrome.
Click the Profile icon in the upper-right corner of the browser.
Look for your other profiles in the menu. You may need to select Manage Chrome profiles to see them.
Select the profile you want to use.
Chrome will open a separate browser window for that profile.
You can have multiple Chrome Profiles open at the same time. For example, you can keep your personal email open in one window and your SAL email open in another.
How Do I Know Which Profile I'm Using?
Look at the Profile icon in the upper-right corner of Chrome.
Click it to see the current profile's name and the other profiles available.
Tip: Before sending an important SAL email or working with organizational documents, check that you're using the correct Chrome Profile.
Remember, your Chrome Profile and Google account are different things. You can also confirm your Google account by clicking the account picture in the upper-right corner of Gmail or Google Drive.
Step 5: Access Your SAL Email and Google Drive
Your SAL Chrome Profile is ready! Now you can start using your SAL email and documents.
Open Your SAL Email
Make sure you're using your SAL Chrome Profile.
Open a new browser tab.
Go to mail.google.com.
If prompted, sign in using your SAL email address and password.
You should now see your SAL Gmail inbox.
Tip: Bookmark Gmail so you can find it easily next time. Press Ctrl+D on Windows or Command+D on Mac to create a bookmark.
Open Google Drive
Open another browser tab.
Go to drive.google.com.
If prompted, sign in using your SAL Google account.
Google Drive is where you'll find documents and other files available to your SAL account.
Depending on your responsibilities, you may have access to different folders and Shared Drives.
Tip: Bookmark Google Drive so you can return to it quickly.
Check That You're Using the Correct Account
In either Gmail or Drive, click your Google account picture or initial in the upper-right corner of the page.
Confirm that the email address shown is your SAL account, such as treasurer@scottsdaleartistsleague.org.
If you have multiple SAL accounts, always check that you're using the account appropriate for your current task.
You're all set! You can now access your SAL email and Google Drive through your dedicated Chrome Profile.
Step 6: Keep Your SAL Account Secure
Your SAL Google account may provide access to organizational emails, documents, and other important information. A few simple precautions will help keep that information safe.
Protect Your Password
Use a strong, unique password for your SAL account.
Don't share your password with other volunteers.
Avoid using the same password for personal and SAL accounts.
If someone else takes over your SAL role, contact SAL's technology administrator to arrange a secure account transition.
Two-Step Verification
Two-step verification (also called 2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Google account.
In addition to your password, Google may ask you to confirm your identity using your phone or another verification method.
Two-step verification is currently optional for SAL accounts, but we strongly recommend enabling it.
To set it up:
Make sure you're signed into your SAL Google account.
Find How you sign in to Google.
Select 2-Step Verification.
Follow Google's instructions to configure your preferred verification method.
Need Help?
If you forget your password, have trouble signing in, or receive a suspicious security message, contact SAL's technology support team.
Email: technology@scottsdaleartistsleague.org
Never send your password or verification codes by email.
Using Your SAL Account on a Phone or Tablet
You can also access your SAL email, documents, and calendars from an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
You do not need to create Chrome Profiles on mobile devices. Instead, Google apps let you add and switch between multiple Google accounts.
Recommended Google Apps
We recommend installing these free apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store:
Gmail: Read and send SAL email.
Google Drive: Access SAL documents and shared files.
Google Calendar: View meetings and events.
Google Docs and Sheets: Open and edit documents and spreadsheets.
Add Your SAL Google Account
Open the Gmail app on your phone or tablet.
Tap your profile picture or initial in the upper-right corner.
Select Add another account.
Choose Google.
Enter your SAL email address and password.
Follow any additional sign-in or security prompts.
Once you've added your SAL account, you can generally access it from other Google apps on the same device.
Switching Between Accounts
If you use personal and SAL Google accounts on the same device:
Open a Google app, such as Gmail or Drive.
Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
Select the account you want to use.
Tip: Before sending SAL email or editing organizational documents, check that you've selected the correct SAL account.
